The tear-jerking moments draw you in even when you are aware you are being shamelessly manipulated. What a guy! There are moments of comedy, and moments of heartbreaking drama. He is more concerned about Kerr's happiness than his own. Kerr's fiance, especially, stands by her even though she is in love with Grant. Instead of taking the predictable route and making their fiances jerks, both are nice, attractive people. When the two meet, both are engaged to other people. ![]() But the acting ability of stars Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr, and the chemistry between them, makes it work. ![]() ![]() Is there any doubt about how it will end? By today's standards, the film is slow-moving and has several unnecessary scenes.
